Thanks to all our wonderful donors, supporters, volunteers and staff the Center for Food Action is able to help many of your neighbors. Whether you contribute money, donate food, give your time or share CFA’s work with your family, friends and colleagues or some combination of these you are a driving force in making much of the work we do possible.
CFA was founded on the value of neighbors helping neighbors. While much in our world has changed in the last four decades this dedication to making life better for the most vulnerable members of our community is as true today as it was when musician Harry Chapin and deejay Bill Ayres founded what was to become Center for Food Action.
Because of your unwavering commitment to this mission we are able to help every person who walks through our doors who is in need of food. Last year, we distributed more than $5,000,000 worth of food. Those we help are as diverse as our community. They come from 100 towns in northern New Jersey. Nearly half are children and many are senior citizens. Many live in households with at least one working adult. Some are in job training programs, others are recently unemployed and some have been injured or have chronic illnesses. Some, especially the elderly and sick depend on CFA regularly and some need our help only once.
One thing these folks share is resilience. Every day we see people who are working to make their lives better; frequently we see people who received CFA’s help return to help others.
We are committed to aiding individuals and families who are struggling under the burden of hunger. This means providing not only food but also information, counseling and advocacy to help our clients better face the changes and challenges that bring them to our doors.
Hunger and food insecurity is real for all too many people in our community. With your help, CFA is able to lend a hand to those needing help during difficult times.
