On Oct. 25 at 11 a.m., the New Jersey Anti-Hunger Coalition will kick off #SNAPFeedsNJ to fight devastating cuts to federal food assistance.
The House of Representatives has already taken the first step in approving this harmful measure, which, if passed, would deny food to tens of thousands of vulnerable New Jersey residents – children, the elderly, people with disabilities, the working poor – worsening hunger that already strikes 1 million New Jersey residents. We all need to speak up to stop this from happening.
The #SNAPFeedsNJ campaign will raise our collective voices to protest the proposed cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as food stamps). We will release a brief report about the many ways SNAP benefits New Jersey residents, along with Congressional fact sheets to show the need for and benefits of SNAP in our Congressional Districts.
We will also give you easy ways to use these tools to send strong messages to our federal lawmakers. So please join us for this free event. Remember, there is strength in numbers. We look forward to seeing you on the 25th!
