Inspiring Future Nonprofit Leaders

Center for Food Action (CFA) recently welcomed students from Ramapo College’s Social Work in Agencies and Communities class to its Mahwah Pantry for a hands-on learning experience. The visit gave students insight into CFA’s mission and daily operations, highlighting the critical role nonprofits play in fighting hunger.

Students heard from Dr. Katie Martin, a national leader in hunger relief, who spoke about the importance of dignity in food access and the growing use of “choice pantries.” This model enables clients to choose their own food, thereby reducing stigma and restoring autonomy.

The partnership reflects CFA’s commitment to education and advocacy, while giving students real-world exposure to mission-driven work.
