22 Jan Thank You: A Successful MLK Day of Service 2025!
|
This past Saturday, Center for Food Action gathered over 150 people for an incredible MLK Day of Service at the Community Baptist Church of Englewood, living out the principle that MLK Day is a day on, not off. With the support of our community members and political leaders, we packed over 2,000 snack packs for local children in need—a tangible act of service that honors Dr. King’s legacy of justice and compassion. We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Theodora Smiley Lacey, our Event Chair, whose poignant words perfectly captured the spirit of this remarkable community effort: “It is a privilege to travel this journey with all of you who generously share your energy, time, and dedication to serve others. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. so eloquently reminds us, ‘All we need is a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.’ ” A special thank you to our event guests and sponsors: The Community Baptist Church of Englewood, National Council of Jewish Women, Jen Maxfield Ostfeld & Scott Ostfeld, PSEG, ShopRite Glass Gardens, TD Bank, Visions Federal Credit Union, Eternity Funeral Services, The Second Reformed Church of Hackensack, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated Iota Epsilon Omega Chapter, Ryan & Nicole Davis, and Richard & Caryn Swanson. Thank you all for your dedication and compassion and for making this event such a meaningful success. With gratitude, |
