Legacy & Planned Giving
Create a lasting impact for families in our community.
A planned gift to Center for Food Action can help ensure families continue to have access to food and essential assistance for years to come. There are several ways to include CFA in your charitable or estate plans, whether you choose to give during your lifetime or create a gift that becomes part of the legacy you leave behind. You don’t need to be wealthy to make a meaningful planned gift.
Ways to Make a Planned Gift
Include CFA in Your Will or Living Trust

Including Center for Food Action in your will or living trust can help sustain our work well into the future. You may choose to leave a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after gifts to loved ones have been fulfilled.
Every planned gift, regardless of size, can help CFA continue providing food and essential assistance to people in our community.
Speak with your attorney or financial advisor about including Center for Food Action in your estate plans. For more information, please contact Nicole Davis at ndavis@cfanj.org or 201-569-1804 Ext. 24.
Designate CFA as A Beneficiary

A beneficiary designation allows you to name Center for Food Action to receive all or a portion of an eligible financial asset after your lifetime.
Assets that may allow beneficiary designations include: certain bank or investment accounts, retirement accounts, life insurance policies, and commercial annuities.
How to Get Started: Contact your plan administrator, insurance provider, bank, or financial institution and request a beneficiary-designation form. Indicate the percentage or amount you would like Center for Food Action to receive. Return the completed form to the appropriate financial institution.
Set-up Charitable IRA Distributions

If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit Center for Food Action and receive tax benefits in return.
You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as ours without having to pay income taxes on the money. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.
Your gift can support CFA’s work today. The distribution may count toward your required minimum distribution. Eligible distributions may be excluded from taxable income.
