Weekend Snack Pack Program
Program Overview
Center for Food Action’s Weekend Snack Pack Program helps provide extra food for children who may not have enough to eat when school meals are not available. Each pack includes easy-to-prepare, kid-friendly items that children can take home for the weekend.
The program supports local students and families experiencing food insecurity by helping bridge the gap between Friday and Monday. CFA works with schools and community partners to distribute snack packs to children who may benefit from additional food support.
Three ways to get involved!
Donate, participate in a CFA event, or host your own.
1. Donate to the Weekend Snack Pack Program
Every $75 donation helps provide 10 Weekend Snack Packs filled with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for children in our community.
2. Participate in a Snack Pack Event
Join us an annual Snack Pack event, including MLK Day of Service and 9/11 Day of Service, to assemble packs with family and friends.
3. Host your own Weekend Snack Pack Event

Less than 500 Snack Packs
Plan and host your own packing event.
- Your organization plans and hosts the packing event.
- CFA provides a supply list, packing guidelines, and step-by-step instructions.
- Your organization purchases all Snack Pack food and supplies.
- Drop off completed Snack Packs at your nearest CFA location.
500+ Snack Packs
Full-service event support from CFA.
- Available for events in Bergen County only.
- CFA purchases and delivers all Snack Pack food and supplies.
- CFA works with your group to coordinate the packing event.
- CFA collects the completed Snack Packs after your event.
- Cost: $7.50 per Snack Pack.

Preventing Weekend Hunger
For one child, Fridays often came with worry. School breakfast and lunch helped during the week, but weekends meant fewer meals and uncertainty about when they would eat next. Through Center for Food Action’s Weekend Snack Pack Program, the child received nutritious, kid-friendly food to take home each week, helping them feel more secure and return to school on Monday ready to learn.
